India vs Australia: Indian Team Sports Black Armbands in Memory of Deceased Achrekar




The Indian team joined in in paying tribute to the legendary coach Ramakant Achrekar, who passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday (January 2).

Playing in the fourth Test and final Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, the Indian team was seen sporting black armbands as a mark of respect to Achrekar

As a mark of respect to the demise of Mr.Ramakant Achrekar, the team is wearing black arm bands today.

Achrekar played only one first class match but was instrumental in shaping careers of Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Ajit Agarkar, Pravin Amre, Samir Dighe and Balwinder Singh Sandhu among others.

He was given the Dronacharya award in 1990, and was also conferred with the Padma Shri award in 2010.

The Australian team, on the other hand, was seen with similar armbands, in memory of former player Bill Watson, who recently passed away at the age of 87.
