BTS’s ARMY gets real estate agent fired over racist remark

ARMY, the ever-growing fanbase of Kpop boy band BTS, has been gaining popularity on social media for their numerical strength and the incredible support they lend to the band.

Recently, they proved their might by managing to get a real estate agent, Brian Hughes, fired from Highline Residential, a real estate firm in New York City, over a racist tweet aimed at the band.

When BTS performed their hit single 'Boy With Luv' on Saturday Night Live, Variety TV editor Brian Steinberg tweeted, “If any of these kids are actually singing, I’ll eat the backstage llama”. After the tweet gained notoriety, Steinberg deleted it.

A tweet that backed Steinberg gained particular attention. A person by the name of Brian H. tweeted: “They look like kids. How old are they? Are Asian women even attracted to their own men”. Following the instant backlash, he was forced to delete the tweet and take his account down.

ARMY twitterati began to dig up information about Brian H on the internet. A user by the name @AsianRailroader found out that Brian Hughes is a real estate agent with Highline Residential.

Another user—@taranya0—emailed Highline Residential, informing them about Brian Hughes’s tweet and how it is a matter of concern for Asians and Asian Americans that such racist realtors exist in a place as diverse as New York City.

Highline Residential was quick to respond, publicly tweeting an apology for the 'Hughes mishap'.

User @taranya0 posted the screenshot of the reply email sent to her by Highline Residential CEO and co-founder Jaspreet Singh.

In the wake of the internet backlash, Highline Residential decided to terminate the services of Brian Hughes over his racially insensitive behavior, much to the delight of ARMY.
