If there's one man who has gained massive recognition following the Centre's decision to make Ladakh a Union Territory, it was Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, the BJP MP from the constituency. On Monday, he was among the firsts to welcome the Centre's decision saying  the region would be finally be free from the dominance and discrimination of Kashmir.
A day later, he earned much appreciation for the rousing speech he gave in Lok Sabha on Centre's move to end the special status to Jammu and Kashmir. "If Ladakh is today under-developed, then Article 370 and Congress party are responsible for it," the MP had said.
He emerged a star on social media as his Twitter followers soared to nearly 30-times to almost 129,000 after the Lok Sabha speech from less than 4,000 followers before. "I cannot accept (any) more friend request(s) here as the limit of 5,000 is crossed. So please hit like and stay tuned with my official page attached here (sic)," he said apologetically on Facebook.
The relatively unknown MP's rousing speech in Lok Sabha received recognition from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other prominent BJP leaders. In a tweet later, the prime minister said the Ladakh BJP MP coherently presented aspirations of people of the region in his speech.
"My young friend, Jamyang Tseing Namgyal who is @MPLadakh delivered an outstanding speech in the Lok Sabha while discussing key bills on J&K. He coherently presents the aspirations of our sisters and brothers from Ladakh. It is a must hear," Modi said in the tweet.
